Support of the cholesterol management for a healthy cardiovascular system:

The interest in the wide-ranging health benefits of phenolic compounds from the Olive plant, in particular Hydroxytyrosol, is growing.

Hydroxytyrosol as a highly active antioxidant has been extensively researched in recent years and, in addition to cardiovascular health, has also been associated with many other positive effects on the immune system, brain, bones and muscles.

Good to know

The oxidation process is cause of various illnesses of the cardiovascular system and the metabolism. In particular the oxidation of the LDL Cholesterols causes the formation of atherosclerotic plaques, which damage the fluid dynamics of the blood vessels and can lead to serious risks and illnesses of the cardiovascular system.

The effectiveness of the polyphenols contained in the fruit pulp of olives as in the olive oil, in particular of Hydroxytyrosol, against the oxidation process of the LDL and an accompanying reduction of the risk of cardiovascular illnesses, was proven in many clinical studies and is also an active component of the Mediterranean diet.

Some of these studies have prompted EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) to determine that the intake of at least 5mg of Hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives daily protects blood lipids from oxidative stress. Hydroxytyrosol thus contributes to an effective reduction of the cardiovascular risk factor.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 17 million people are dying every year from cardiovascular disease (CVD), which accounts for 31% of all deaths worldwide. This makes CVD the most common cause of death worldwide.

For the treatment of atherosclerosis often statins are prescribed as medicines, which can entail considerable side effects.

Many people are therefore looking for alternatives to positively influence their cholesterol levels in a natural way.
